Power meters, data loggers and energy management software

The meter measures. The data logger collects the readings and passes them on. The software analyses them and handles billing. Each product also works on its own.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions about EMU products

Which EMU power meter is approved for billing?

The EMU Professional II. It is approved to MID modules B+D and meets PTB-A 20.1 and PTB-A 50.7. The three-phase meter measures directly up to 100 A or via current transformers and stores up to three years of load profile in the device – even without a control system.

How does the meter data get into my system?

Depending on the version, the Professional II outputs its values over M-Bus, Modbus RTU, TCP/IP with MQTT or LoRaWAN, and over KNX from Q1 2027. Where there are many meters or third-party devices, the EMU M-Center collects up to 250 M-Bus devices and passes the data on via MQTT, BACnet IP, OPC UA, Modbus TCP, (s)FTP or email.

Do I need Joulio-Web?

Only if you want to analyse consumption, investigate load peaks or produce utility cost statements. Joulio-Web is ISO 50001 certified and runs as a cloud solution in a professional data centre. The meters and the M-Center also work without Joulio-Web, with any other target system.

Above what current do I need current transformers?

The Professional II measures directly up to 100 A per phase. Above that, the transformer-connected version is used: with solid-core current transformers (5 A secondary, 60 to 1250 A primary) in new installations, or with split-core current transformers (1 A secondary, 100 to 1000 A primary) for retrofitting without disconnecting.

Which combination of meter, data logger and software fits?
